The story of the piece

There are quattro formaggi, there are napoletanas, there are slices wolfed down standing up outside the cinema.

And then there’s this one.

A slice of pizza entirely hand-crocheted, perched on a black bag like a small apparition. Olives, mushrooms, cheese, tomato: it’s all there. Even the little tomato that has made a run for it, because at Atelier 189, details rarely feel like behaving.

Materials
Crocheted paper, fruit and vegetables hand-crocheted in 100% cotton yarn, textile stuffing.

Dimensions
height 21cm · length 36cm · width 12cm

Why we love it

For the contrast between the deep black of the bag and the colours of the pizza, which turns an easy-to-wear piece into one you notice instantly.

For the crochet work: each ingredient is made and assembled by hand, with that build-up of detail that means you spot something new every time you look a little closer.

And above all because it pulls off something rather rare: never taking itself seriously, without ever losing its poise.

Ave Pizza.
A bag to be worn with the utmost seriousness.
Well, almost.

The time it takes

Each element is worked separately: the shapes are built up stitch by stitch, firmly stuffed, then assembled. Crochet takes time because it cannot go any faster than the hand. That is precisely what gives it its structure, its relief and its presence.

Care

Avoid water, excessive rubbing and long exposure to direct sunlight. Clean gently and dry, with a soft cloth. A stubborn stain? Write to us before you rub.
