The story of the piece
You might think you have to choose between flowers and vegetables.
Mon Chou simply didn’t.
On its khaki crocheted paper, a cauliflower, a lime and a slice of lemon have settled in, almost discreetly. Everything stays within the same leafy palette, like a composition conceived tone on tone. Then the white of the cauliflower lights up the whole, revealing the relief and bringing out every detail of the crochet.
A bag that’s soft without being prim, verdant without playing at market basket.
And quite possibly the only way to call someone “Mon Chou” (French for “darling”, literally “my cabbage”) without laying it on too thick.
The cauliflower and the lime are crocheted separately, then arranged and fixed onto the bag by hand, with all the care owed to vegetables that will never end up in a soup.
The volumes, shades and stitches have been worked so that each element stays distinct, without breaking the khaki harmony of the piece.

Why we love it
For its tone-on-tone greens, which let the textures do all the talking.
For the white of the cauliflower, which brings just the right amount of light.
For the relief of the crochet, visible right down to the leaves, the lemon segments and the small irregularities that speak of the hand at work.
And because it manages to make a cauliflower the most delicate detail of an outfit.
The time it takes
The time it takes
Each element is worked separately: the shapes are built up stitch by stitch, firmly stuffed, then assembled. Crochet takes time because it cannot go any faster than the hand. That is precisely what gives it its structure, its relief and its presence.
