The story of the piece

Tenue Correcte had started the evening so very properly.

Impeccable houndstooth, almost classic lines, a perfectly composed air. Then along came a few strawberries, a lime and a bottle of champagne, all hand-crocheted.

What happened next is none of our business.

The pattern gives the bag its structure while the crocheted elements gently ruffle its composure. The fruit brings volume and bold colour; the bottle, worn as a charm, hangs from the handle and can be moved or removed as the mood takes you.

Each element is hand-crocheted in cotton, with precise work on volume and detail.

Smart dress required. As for the rest, no promises.

Why we love it

Because the houndstooth gives it that very proper air, which the crochet is quick to contradict.

Because the strawberries and the lime act as little bursts of colour across the pattern.

Because its champagne-bottle charm can be detached and worn on another bag – a way to change the story without leaving the party.

And because it has that blend I’m so fond of: a well-mannered bag keeping very bad company.

The time it takes

Each element is worked separately: the shapes are built up stitch by stitch, firmly stuffed, then assembled. Crochet takes time because it cannot go any faster than the hand. That is precisely what gives it its structure, its relief and its presence.

Care

Avoid water, excessive rubbing and long exposure to direct sunlight. Clean gently and dry, with a soft cloth. A stubborn stain? Write to us before you rub.
